Hi. I'm going thro form2content lite and its documentation and tutorial. I'm looking to build an Obituary site with a workflow similar to your fav place to visit demo. Was wondering how to create articles using forms but that was answered in a post: "The article creation using the forms is Form2Content (Pro)".

Your previous demo (movies database), was built on J2.5. Is the new demo on J3?

When I purchase the Pro version, does it come with the ability to install the demo content? That would be useful as guide.

Without having the UIkit framework, I'm wondering how different the sample demo content will be. What you have is styled very beautifully.

Good morning Gurdip,

Thanks for your interest in F2C! Yes the new demo is build in J3. If you install latest release of PRO I can export the demo so you can import it.

The styling is relatively basic. Only the image gallery is a bit more complicated but you can see exactly what I did in the template. Depending on your Joomla template you can build similar with bootstrap 2 or 3. Matter of following their documentation ;)

Hope this helps!
Regards, Patrick

Wow, that was quick response! Thanks.

So I can install the Pro version and import the demo content? Sounds neat. Will connect with you again.

Another question, Patrick.

The obituary site I intend to build will allow users to:
upload the deceased's photo;
provide some data (eg deceased's name, funeral date etc)
provide user's name, ID card for verification, and deceased's death certificate copy, etc

Now the last part (verification data), should appear in the backend only (article will be unpublished initially). The verification content should be hidden from the frontend. Is this possible? That is, some fields will be public, and others will be private and hidden. Upon verification, admin will publish the content for frontend display.

Thanks

Hi Gurdip,

Yes some fields can be set to not show in front-end.
But please realize that when you upload a picture or pdf that is not shown in the front-end, it can still be crawled by spider-bots, since it's likely to be stored in a public accessible location of your server.

best,
Julien

Thanks for the info. If I am using a Joomla site in a subdomain, I may be able to block all bot traffic and thereby prevent the site from being crawled? I hope so anyway.

I have just purchased the Pro version and amtrying to wrap my head around things. I was recently provided the .xml for the favorite places demo. Can I request for the template files as well? I'd like to take a look at that and compare how they render in your demo, especially the form template. Thanks.

Hi Gurdip,

Please be aware that blocking crawlers is not a secure way to hide information!

Patrick is not in the office at the moment, he will be back in a few days. I think he can help you with the templates.

best,
Julien

Hi. I'm setting up content fields. Just realized that the dropdown list does not include the Date Picker. Looked thro the forum and documentation to see if there is a process to add it in but I have not come across anything yet. Help appreciated. Thanks.

To clarify: In Content Type Manager, the dropdown filter shows many F2C field types. See screenshots. But when I create, only a subset is shown. Can't seem to find any info on this.

Hi Gurdip,

You are creating new fields in the back-end, right?
Did you upgrade from the lite version, or did you install the pro version directly?

best,
Julien

Patrick, thank you for the link to the main template.

Julien, I upgraded from the Lite version. Should I uninstall and re-install? I spent the better part of 2 days going thro the documentation and forum but could not find anyone talking about this issue.

Thanks

Hi Gurdip,

NEVER UNINSTALL, all data will be removed. You can always re-install the latest version.

I am not clear I understand the issue. Your images show the data picker field. Am I correct to understand that wheh you go to a Content type, select the Field manager and try to add a new field, the date picker field is now shown as an option?

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

What I observed was this:
In Content Type Manager > Fields > Search Tools > Select Content Type Field, I could see the full list of content types.

But when I clicked New to create a new field, the 'Select Content Type Field' dropdown had only a few options. Most were missing, including the Date Picker.

I reinstalled the Pro version but it did not help.
Since I was exploring the component and had hardly done anything substantive, I uninstalled and re-installed it (I will keep in mind the loss of data; thanks). It seems to have worked :) I now see a much longer list in the dropdown.

If I had this issue, others may experience it too.
My environment: It is a fresh Joomla 3 install on a A2hosting reseller account; used the lite version first and then upgraded to Pro.

Regards
Gurdip
