Hi Hanna,

Please add your versions and the SQL query you use. Some examles can be found here:
https://documentation.form2content.com/f2c-field-types/database-lookup-field-single-select
In the field settings you can set that it is a required field.

Patrick

Well, yes I did set it as a required field. But what I wanted is, that when the database lookup field is empty, that i shows a message on the form, saying it is empty, you can't go on.

MMhhhh, OK, My sql knowledge isn't that good to know if that is possible. But that would also imply someone would need to stop/can't finish the form?

Dont' understand your reference to template....

The database lookup field has a query input option and the field will display a multi-select drop down in the F2C submission form.

Well I wanted to do something like

{if $datebaselookupfile == empty}
do something
{/if}

But I can't check the value of the lookup field

You can add that code in the F2C Template for the default value (empty value) ......

You can add this logic in the Article template but not in te Submission form template.

Different example. I would like to add another dropdown, when user is Superuser. So i have this query:

SELECT group_id FROM `#_user_usergroup_map` WHERE user_id={USERID} ORDER BY `#_user_usergroup_map`.`group_id` DESC LIMIT 1

How can i use this in the submission form

Hi Hanna,

I understand you like to make things more fancy. F2C has been made simple and with the understanding that a superuser uses the back-end.

Any logic you like to add has to be done in the article template, not in the submission form, sorry.

Ohh I see...problem is the guy who is supposed to review the article is.... well...... a noob...so I hoped I could do it that way... well never mind.

Would be nice though, something like the Conent restriction plugin, or in the content manager, to add the permission level to the fields...

Well i just have to tell the guy...

Thanks for your help though...
