Hi Patrick,

Latest F2C Pro and Joomla
Is there a way to limit the number of characters entered into a text editor field for the intro?

I am sure I have seen this option over the last 2 or 3 days someplace, but I can't find it now!

Maybe I was F2C dreaming!

What type of field are you using for creating the intro?

With a WHYSWYG editor you can't limit but you can use smarty to strip tags and truncate length.
If you use a multi-line text field you can limit the characters in the field settings.

I am using the editor text area, but I am sure I saw a field with 250 characters prefilled in it some place. I just cant think where.

The trunkated option could work. Do you have an example of how to do it with the editor text area handy?

Thanks Patrick, it works a treat.

However, strangely if I add the 3rd or 4th parameters ({$articleTitle|truncate:30:"...":true}) it destroys the formatting of the blog page if I enter text in the intro field that is shorter than the cut off figure. If the text is longer and gets truncated, no problem.
So, I have left it to {$articleTitle|truncate:30} which is fine.
