Resolved Image : setting the size of thumbnail, but no constant ratio

Hello friends,

about image field / thumbnail

I am working on the website of a painted artist

I need a thumbnail for category view and an image for article.
The ratio of image is not constant.
I have a max width and max height for every image. (700px) which is the same.
So an image can be 700 x 500, or 650 x 700
Thumbnail, I only need to resize it by the width (445) keeping the original ratio of the original image.
At the moment, i have not understood if it is possible and not found thread for that need on the forum.

Hi Gilles,

Please add version info as it will influence the answer!!

Mmmhhh... you can set the width and height restrains for the thumbnail just as for the picture but if a portrait image is loaded the image width will be smaller.

Best is to set absolute width and height for the thumbnail (so 445 x 300) and set crop thumbnail only option. This way the thumbnails will all look the same while the image maintains original aspect ratio.

Hi Patrick,

thank you for a so very fast answer,
and sorry to forget F2C version : F2C Pro 6.16.0 for Joomla 3.7

What you explain after : Mmmhhh... ;)
is what I have obtained.

And I have to speak with the painter to propose the best solution you propose.
