Hallo,

When creating articles I let the user define a category. Is it possible to show the category title in the blog view when using Search flitered article list?

Example: The user creates an article (event with date 10 november 2016). He selects the category november. I want to show the events grouped by month (in this case category) and order by eventdate.

Greets,
Rob

1) Yes, you can add it in your article content using the {$JOOMLA_CATEGORY_TITLE} template parameter.

2) category choice is a Joomla field and one which isn't used for ordering in Joomla. Since we copied Joomla com_content blog layout it automatically isn't supported by us either.

But, if it was a single select list in F2C you could order by it using F2C custom ordering.....

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your reply but this is not exactly what I'm looking for.

What I mean is a category blog view with subcategories via the f2c filtered articles solution. This overview should show the category titles in this overview (so not in the article itself). Is this possible?

So lets say I have a category called numbers. Subcategories are 1, 2 and 3. The overview I want to create is:
NUMBERS
1
articles ordered by f2c field
2
articles ordered by f2c field
3
articles ordered by f2c field

Tanks again.

OK, that's clearer. No that's not possible. The only way I can think of is writing a template override to add this layout. But talk to a php developer to see if there are any issues I'm not aware off.

So there is no way of showing the Category title in a f2c blog overview filtered by a f2c field (filtered articles in the search component). My understanding is correct? If so I will close this question.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi Rob,

If what you describe in your last post is the description of the previous post with sub-categories the answer is no unless you create a custom override.

If it's for a Single category than yes it is possible.

Ok clear. Where to set the category title to show in a single category? Just Joomla or somewhere in F2C?
