Hi there,
I cannot seem to use the Google Tag Manager on pages with a F2C search. I'm using Tag Manager to track events in Google Analytics. The Google tracking code is wrongly being injected into the F2C search query string which will obviously lead to a 404.
You can duplicate the problem by inserting Tag Manager code (attached) into your page, just before the body tag I think. Then use a F2C search form with a drop down choice for example and execute a search including some parameters. You will see that this code is injected into the url and it leads to a 404.

Can this be solved?
Thanks, Elisabeth

Hi Elisabeth,

I just added the Tracking code in the body, but I can't reproduce the problem.
Do you have a live url where I can see it?

best,
Julien

Hi Julien,
I will add the code at about 11pm GMT +1 tonight because I can't have it on now, the traffic is too high.
I just tested that the problem still exists and it does.
The url that a search results in is like this :

http://www.dolcevia.com/nl/index.php?option=com_form2contentsearch&task=search.display&pb=1&searchformid=24&results=3%20%3C!--%20Google%20Tag%20Manager%20--%3E%3Cnoscript%3E%3Ciframe%20src=%22//www.googletagmanager.com/ns.html?id=GTM-W6B4KP%22height=%220%22%20width=%220%22%20style=%22display:none;visibility:hidden%22%3E%3C/iframe%3E%3C/noscript%3E%3C!--%20End%20Google%20Tag%20Manager%20--%3E2&f2cs_59_24_54=Soepensauzen&f2cs_60_24_53=&Itemid=1016

Tell me if i need to add the script this evening if possible.
Thanks,
Elisabeth

Hello Elisabeth,

You don't need to add the script this evening, but can you send me the file that you use with the script instead?
You can send it to julien at opensourcedesign dot nl

Thanks!

Julien

Hi there,
Google Tag Manager doesnt let you do that. It's the embed code and that's all i can really provide. I think you will still need to look and analyse it live. It connects to my Google Analytics account and if the appropriate Google Chrome extentsion is available it will be able to give me info about 'events' taking place on the site.
what would you like me to do?

Hi Elisabeth,

When you have enabled the Google Tag Manager code, can you do a "view source" in your browser and send me that file?

best,
Julien

Hi there Julien,
Any news on this yet?
Thanks, Elisabeth

Hi Elisabeth,

I can only see from the script that the code is trying to add elements to the page.
Since the code is very compact, it is hard to see what's being added.

Can you try to use the block enclosed in the noscript tags only? Omitting the javascript code?

best,
Julien

It will still do this in the search url =
http://www.dolcevia.com/nl/index.php?option=com_form2contentsearch&task=search.display&pb=1&searchformid=28&results=3%3C!--%20Google%20Tag%20Manager%20--%3E%3Cnoscript%3E%3Ciframe%20src=%22//www.googletagmanager.com/ns.html?id=GTM-W6B4KP%22height=%220%22%20width=%220%22%20style=%22display:none;visibility:hidden%22%3E%3C/iframe%3E%3C/noscript%3E%3C!--END%20%20Google%20Tag%20Manager%20--%3E3&f2cs_79_28_-2=32&f2cs_80_28_17=Paardrijden&f2cs_81_28_16=&f2cs_82_28_174=&Itemid=1078

I just wanted to get back to you on this issue as I still don't have a resolution. Perhaps I mistunderstood what you wanted me to do in your last message. I tried to add the no script tag to the page but this gives me nothing. In other words it creates a blank page (on the whole website). Not a very good result.

Hi Elisabeth,

Yes, that is what I meant.
the part between the noscript tags is used when the browser does not support javascript. The functionality should be identical to the script functionality.
The script functionality is injecting html elements into the page which are causing a problem. Unfortunately I have no clue why this happens.

best,
Julien
