Hi Patrick,

I have an integration question about form2content.

I have a client that is running J2Store as a shopping cart on their website, but the person who is entering in the data keeps making mistakes, it's driving me mad! lol...

So, i'm looking for a solution and wonder if F2C is just that.

I wonder, as J2store uses a Joomla article to add each item to the shopping cart, will F2C play nicely?

I ask, because J2Store adds a new tab to the Joomla article creation page with very specific data entry fields.

It then, upon save, uses it's own custom article default.php file, rather than the standard Joomla one.

Have you had any experience with this integration before?

Regards, Brendan

Hi Brendan,

We have made some plugins that link a F2C Content Type to for instance a category blog description. In theory it's possible to write a custom F2C plugin that is triggered "on save"and writes data from the form elsewhere.

Some info can be found here:

Hope this helps!

Please read the F2C documentation before asking questions! Thank you if you've done so ;)

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for getting back to me.

I thought it was too much to hope for an out of the box solution.

I think your pointers after reading the info in that link would be doable, by using a F2C form to submit the data diectly into a J2Store article in the DB.

Unfortunately that is beyond my current skill set.

So I guess I will have to continue correcting the mistakes like a school master.

Hi Brendan,

I am doing just this at the moment.

I made a f2c field named SHOP_NUMBER that calls the appropriate J2Store item into my f2C template. It does mean that the article has to be created first and then the J2Store data added in the standard Joomla editor in order to generate the shop number. But it's just one round trip to enter it into the F2C form.

The F2C form creates the formatted Joomla content and the J2Store template suppliess the shop element. Here's the code I put in the F2C template to call the J2Store content:

<div ="shop-online">{ldelim}j2store{rdelim}{$SHOP_NUMBER}|cart{ldelim}/j2store{rdelim} </div>
<div class="shop-online" >
<h3>Sorry, this product is not available to buy online. </h3>

I've attached a screen shot of a typical product page. The only bit supplied by J2Store is between the BUY ONLINE button and the options heading.

I'm off to read the documentation provided by Patrick to see if there's a neater way to do it.
