Joomla 3.5.1
F2C 6.13.0

I have a lot of articles in a category (200+) and want to change the permissions for these. I thought it would be a simple matter of going to the Content Type changing the user group permissions and then refreshing the articles or pressing the synchronize F2C articles button.
It seems that once I have created an article then the permissions stick unless I open that article in F2C and change the permissions manually, then save. At present I just hide the edit buttons if certain users are logged in but would like to know how I can update all the permissions on these articles.

Regards,
Helen

The update query on the Joomla articles in the assets table fixed the problem. The changes to the Joomla article permissions are kept when saving the F2C article.

I think it was my misunderstanding of what the permissions in F2C do. With further experiment Joomla itself has the same problem. When an article is created in Joomla the permissions are set from the Article global config permissions, and stored in the asset table. There is no way in Joomla to batch edit permissions for a group of articles.

Thanks for your time,
Helen

Just done some more checking and it is not enough to update the F2C article and save, I have to edit the Joomla article to update the permissions.

Hi Helen,

You are correct. The permissions of the articles cannot be BATCH changed via Form2Content. There is always a first one to ask ;)

I have no quick solution but could imagine this can be changed via the Database. If you change the values in the F2C tables and run a batch update, they should change in the Joomla tables too.

Only problem is that I don't speak mysql :(

Maybe someone else does?

Patrick

Nothing I did in F2C or by using an update query on F2C items in the db made any difference. I tried all sorts of permutations.

The only thing that worked was to do an update query on the articles themselves in the asset table.

Did the update query solve your problem? Or are the changes lost when saving again via F2C?

I think batch update article usergroup (ACL) can be an interesting new feature. I will add it to our list.
