I need to do a Free Text Search on Town/City, so my question is:
Can I do a Free Search on a Geo Coder field Type? And if so How?
or
Can I generate a Geo Coder filed by combining three text fields (address, city/town, and Province/State)? So I can then search in a listed filed (City/Town) and if so, How?

Hi Julien,

I understand how busy you must be with the new version of Joomla 4 coming up and I guess I will have to wait for this feature in the new release but for now I need to find a way to deal with my requirement, so here is the question, could I copy/transfer the content from the Geocoder Field to a hidden/No-Front-end displayed field and the use this hidden field to be the Free searchable Text?

Thanks,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Making the address of the Geocoder field searchable would be a feature request. I can ask Julien how much work that will be.
Your alternative is possible but not in combination with the geocoder field. You would need to use Google code in your template to display the map and convert address to location.

Please read the F2C documentation before asking questions! Thank you if you've done so ;)

Hi Patrick,

It would be great if Julien could make the Geocoder field searchable. It seems that the second option would be too much of a mess.

I would really appreciate it. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Hi Carlos,

I can add this as a feature request for a future version, but within a short period of time this is unfortunately not possible.
We're still working on a new F2C Pro release and I'm preparing all our components and plug-ins to be J4 compatible. This is taking up so much time, that there's no room for extra development at the moment.

best,
Julien
