Hi there guys,
i think there is an issue with browser page title not updating in articles. I think that since Joomla 3.7 there is a new field for that. I attach Joomla article form view. However since we always sync the articles with Joomla parametesr you would expect it should be updated but it's not. It's apparantly a different field then before. In fact I have noticed also a funny thing that old articles metadescription and meta keywords are not writing to Joomla as they should. They appear in the right fields when you open article view in Joomla but they don't show in the front end where they should in the source. Therefore it will default to taking the menu page meta instead for an article. Problems will arise when using related artcles enhanced pro extention and SEO extentions. Would you take a look at my post on Joomla help forums for more info. https://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=712&t=955319
Thanks, Elisabeth

Well we didnt have to wait that long.
FYI This subject will also be updated on Joomla SEO Forum :
https://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=712&t=955319

I solved the problem today and the fact is this :
When you assign a GEOCODE FACTORY 5 map module to an article page, it will not allow the browser page title, metatag and metadescription of the page in Joomla! to update, it will default back to the menu title settings.

It is a very odd chain of events and it took me literally ages to figure out. I finally as a last resort disabled all modules related to the page and enabled them one by one, through the process of elimination I finally figured it out.
It was for me not an obvious place to look for a metatag problem especially since I have various SEO extentions running. We thought it was a PHP file problem but my server people tested just about everything and nothing, no change.
Thankfully this has been solved but looking forward to your next update!

Hi Liz, please add your version info. I have not yet come across any issues with this and have released several extensive J3.7 websites with Form2Content.

If you see the metadata in the JAM as you describe it seems F2C has done it's job i.e. it's in the database tables. After this it's 100% to Joomla and your Template to render the data. It's also strange that on some occasion it does work and sometimes it doesn't..... I never like this!!

Are you using any SEF component? They are the ones that overwrite metadata.

Patrick

Form2Content Pro version 6.16.0 and Joomla 3.8.
This problem actually arises in various categories but not all of them. :( Abruzzen, Umbrië is a problem but Puglia and Tuscany seem fine. There is unique article meta data in all of these articles. You can see various articles and results from this link https://www.dolcevia.com/nl/italie-reizen/regio#italie-reis-reportages . However if you go to the JAM, metadescription is there, the keywords are there but the special new field with browser page title is always empty (you can find it under option all the way at the end, a bit hidden). I don't know if this is related to my problem. I use one SEO tool Jsitemap, before 3.8 I had OSMeta which there was not much point keeping after I installed Jsitemap, they overlap eachother too much. Even so it should not be overwriting anything.

I have found the optional "Browser page title" in the Joomla article manager (all the way under article options instead of with the other meta data ....grrrr, who makes those choices!).

We do not (yet) submit any data into this. I will ask Julien to add a field or mapping option including a template parameter into a future release. We are currently working hard on 6.17 which involves a lot of refactoring so I can't say when this will be finished.

Patrick
