Recently Joomla introduced fields, for instance in content. These could come in very handy in some cases.

As far as I know F2C does not support these fields yet. Are there any plans to support Joomla fields in the future?
And what is the estimated time for doing so?

Regards and a Happy New Year

Hi Poul,

Thank you for your message.

Currently we have no plans for "linking" or integrating Joomla custom fields to Form2Content. There are of course several reasons.

1) It's a lot of work and Joomla has been changing architecture rapidly. Joomla 4 will give us (again) a lot of extra work.
2) It's double feature... choose to use F2C or Custom Fields
3) As you say, "in some cases". Many more features which will be useful for more people... we sadly have to make choices.

Regards and the best wishes for the new year!

Patrick

I understand your choice, though I would really like this feature for a specific reason.

I am using F2C with another plugin,JUtabs to make tabbed pages with articles created by F2C.

To do so I am using JUtab's SQL feature to select the articles to be tabbed. That's how fields would come in handy, so a user could set up several tabbed pages and then use a field to select what page an article belongs to.

My site is user driven, so I can't use the standard Joomla ways to do this.

So without fields the only solutions is to have a user with more that one page create one user account for each page, which is not very user friendly.

Poul

Hi Poul,

I believe this can be accomplished using Form2Content. You can simply add a F2C Database lookup field (multi-select) to allow users to select articles.
http://documentation.form2content.com/f2c-field-types/database-lookup-field-multi-select

In your F2C Article Template you add the html/css for tabs (think front-end framework like bootstrap/UIkit etc.). Use Smarty logic to show/hide stuff and the array function to build.
Example: https://gist.github.com/Form2Content/8a71d182b6e84540fde90f0b3ff6e1ef

Use the free Form2Content Anywhere plugin to load the articles in the tabs. This is done via templating so you can select the intro or main template or even create a different layout using the data from the other articles!
http://www.form2content.com/download/f2c-plugins/f2c-anywhere-2-3-2-for-joomla-3-x-j30

Hope you follow the logic ;)

Regards,
Patrick
